Blood Donation DocumentsDate added
You may already know the benefits of donating blood through the American Red Cross—providing a unit of whole blood that contains red blood cells, platelets, and plasma. Let us introduce you to our newest type of blood collection technology, Automated Red Cell Collection, where you provide two units of life-saving red blood cells during one donation process.
The Cooperative Sickle Cell Donor Program was started by The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and the American Red Cross in 1997 to improve transfusion support for children with sickle cell disease. Two additional partners, the Philadelphia/Delaware Valley chapter of the Sickle Cell Disease Association of America and St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children are bringing the program into the community to help more children. Together with our most important partners --- caring volunteer blood donors and blood drive sponsors --- we save lives. Join us!
While you can expect to be at the bloodmobile for about an hour, the actual blood donation usually takes less than fifteen minutes.
