Every American Red Cross bloodmobile is hosted by a volunteer, someone just like you. Businesses, churches, synagogues, community organizations, and schools all work voluntarily to assure that there is enough blood for anyone in our community who needs it.
To be sure we have 8,000 donors weekly, we work weeks and months ahead of time to identify who will host the bloodmobiles each and every day, and to determine how many donors to expect at each bloodmobile.
New bloodmobile hosts are always needed, especially around major holidays. In other words, we need you!
What a bloodmobile sponsor does:
- Offers a suitable location
- Helps recruit donors from their group or community
- Schedules donors for their donation appointment
Then leave the rest to us:
- A Red Cross representative will work with you every step of the way as you plan and organize your blood drive
- We'll help you determine how many donors to expect, and we'll reserve the trained Red Cross staff that you'll need for your blood drive
- We bring the bloodmobile to you, setting up the equipment and taking it with us when we leave
- We'll confidentially screen donors and collect blood donations that are then sent to the Red Cross regional blood center for testing, processing and distribution
- And, we'll schedule volunteers to greet donors and serve refreshments
